Ron Williams flagrantly and repeatedly violated election law to win re-election in 2022 by 58 votes has not been given enough attention.
I covered some of this when I wrote under the Farragut Free Press.
Repeated Examples of Electioneering Going on in Farragut
More Illegal Electioneering at Farragut Town Hall
Multiple sources told me that Ron Williams was in the voting area, seen in the voting area, or actually talking to voters inside Farragut City Hall while Early voting was going on in 2022. He, as mayor, is allowed to be in the building, but was not allowed to be seen by voters nor allowed in the voting area, which Ron Williams did repeatedly.
I contacted Christopher Davis, the Knox County Election Administrator and he left me the following voice mail.
I received a text message on Saturday July 23, 2022 that there was a vehicle with a Ron Williams magnet on it inside the 100 foot no campaigning zone at Farragut City Hall, which held Early Voting. Here is the photo from the text I received. I blacked out the license plate. The vehicle belongs to MaryAnn McGill, who she and her late husband Ralph McGill were involved in Farragut’s founding. She was working the polls while this went on.
I drove over to investigate and confirmed the vehicle no longer had the magnet on it. As I drove out around back, I witnessed Ron Williams leaving Farragut City Hall. Early Voting had not ended yet, so he was not supposed to be inside the building being seen by voters.
I confronted him, as he was yet again illegally inside the building while he was a candidate and voting was going on.
Ron Williams filed a police report and made false statements that I had a history of disrupting public meetings. I had only attended 2 BoMA meetings in March of 2022. I was not disruptive in either.
I wrote in greater detail showing how Ron Williams’s statements were patently false in the article How All of This Started... Part I
The Farragut Press published an article in their July 27, 2022 edition Blogger ‘yells’ at Mayor? No polling violations found.
A social media political blogger from Farragut, Sean Murphy, allegedly confronted Farragut Mayor Ron Williams at Town Hall “and began yelling at him” Saturday afternoon, July 23, a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report stated.
“Officers responded to (a) Sugarwood Drive (address) … in reference to a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted Ronald Edward Williams, complainant,” the report stated. “The complainant advised that earlier in the day he had visited the Farragut Town Hall with his wife (T.C. Williams), and was confronted by Sean Murphy, suspect.”
I was never a suspect as there was never any investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. It is clear to me the Farragut Press never bothered to ask the KCSO if there was an investigation. Calling me a suspect is typical of their biased journalism. Below is a screen shot of my email from Sgt. Martin.
Exiting Town Hall “and standing on the sidewalk,” Williams stated Murphy “drove toward us, very quickly and very closely. It was almost vehicular assault. While driving toward us, he had his window down and was screaming at me that I was ‘breaking the law.’
Here is the video from Farragut City Hall of the encounter. It clearly shows that Ron Williams’s statements were false. I never drove at him. I turned in to park my van. I never drove quickly nor closely. Mrs. Williams walked into my parking spot. He refuses to correct the record to this day and admit his accusations were false.
The next week the Farragut Press had to issue a correction in their article Murphy responds; Davis sticks with 1 ‘no malice’ mayor camp violation, released on August 3, 2022. Election Day was August 4, 2022. It is unlikely most voters saw the corrected article. The Farragut Press corrected their story that no polling violations were found, as there was a polling violation.
The problem is the first article was posted illegally on the bulletin board right outside where voting was taking place inside Farragut City Hall.
I also spoke to residents who saw copies of the July 27th Farragut Press paper in the newspaper box situated in front of Farragut City Hall.
Ron Williams won re-election by 58 votes. He won early voting 51.80% to 48.20%.
There is no doubt the Farragut Press article made a difference in this race. The article called me a suspect, despite the Knox County Sheriff’s Office never opening an investigation. Voters had copies of the article in their hands while walking in to vote, could see a copy of the article in the Farragut Press Newspaper box for a few days, as well as the article was posted on the bulletin board.
The election, in my opinion, was flagrant election fraud. Ron made up a story, the Farragut Press printed it, and enough voters believed it to sway the election to Ron Williams.
Update: March 24, 2025.
Here is a video link to Ron Williams engaging with voters in line to vote. At 1:29 you can see him engaging with a voter in the video to the left.

Looks like Knox County Election Office made no attempt to enforce the anti-electioneering law.
